Informative Event on GYN-Cancers for Latinas- 5/10/18

I was so excited when I heard about the above event.  Even more now since I have been chosen to be on the panel, be a speaker and be the MC of the event.

This event offers information needed on GYN cancers for Latinas.  As a Latina and as a Cervical Cancer survivor I know that Latina women are twice as likely to get diagnosed with cervical cancer in comparison to non-Latina, and the death rate for us is nearly 50% higher than that of non-Latina women.


I believe that as Latinas we have to be up to the challenge to make our health a priority in our lives.  We also need to have more discussions about our bodies and sexuality, and open up the doors of communication to our daughters and sons.

Me emocione al ver este evento.  Ahora estoy mucho mas emocionada  al saber que fui escogida como panelista, presentadora y Maestra de Ceremonia para el evento.
Este evento ofrece informacion muy necesitada sobre los canceres ginecologos para Latinas.  Como Latina y como una sobre viviente del cancer cervical se que nosotras tenemos el doble de probabilidad de ser diagnosticada con el cancer cervical comparado a otras mujeres que no son Latinas.  La tasa de mortalida es casi un 50% mas alta que el de otras mujeres de diferente etnicidad.
Yo creo que como Latinas tenemos que estar a la altura de poner nuestra salud como prioridad en nuestras vidas.  Tambien tenemos que tener conversaciones sobre nuestros cuerpos y sexualidad.  A como tambien abrir las puertas de comunicaciones para nuestras hijas e hijos.
